The first of the engineered oak floors has been laid - this is Jack and Alice's bedroom. The floor is made of planks of plywood with a 6mm "wear layer" of oak on top, and is glued direct to the floor screed. Paul Olds is laying them (his first real hands-on job on site, I think - and I've just been told I had put the wrong P. Olds here - Pete Olds has been hard at work!). Like every other part of this build, trying to decide how to lay straight planks in a curved house to get the best visual effect has been an interesting challenge!
