Cleaning and landscaping

There is lots of preparation for the remaining work outside at the moment. The stacks of bricks outside our kitchen have been moved to make the external curved "wings" and have now been replaced with a truck-load of topsoil. The back of the house has been cleared ready for a layer of subsoil and topsoil and Les has been cleaning the brickwork, which is now looking very sharp.

We've sorted out where to put a path around to the back door, and chosen "vintage" blue bricks to make a path around the front. Chris M-C says these are not at all vintage - just the chipped bricks that no-one wants to buy as new! He may have found a route to the sewers, at last ... more details to follow once a camera has had a look around.
By Friday, the wing outside Joe's en-suite is done.
And the two heat exchangers for the MVHR system are in place under the stairs. They will each need a couple of tubes drilled through the back wall, one to vent air extracted from all the "hot" rooms - bathrooms and kitchen, and another to bring in fresh air. The heat exchanger is meant to be able to recover about 80% of the heat from the outgoing air. It also provides valuable fresh air, in what will be a very airtight house.
Nigel has now carefully cut out bricks for the vents - its looking very neat.
