The scaffolders came to set up a second level, around the curved back wall. Apparently they soon got fed up of having to struggle up through the trees from the road, so built a pier that ends up at the edge of our land, about eight feet above Bear Hill ... Brighton, eat your heart out!
And while Ian was waiting for them to finish the scaffolding, he spent a day producing our "feature wall" - the red brick that will frame the end of our living area. You need to imagine a wood burning stove in front of this.
And while Ian was busy doing that, Mike was busy building more of the stud walls on the second storey. Someone has had to cut large numbers of heavy timber planks into gentle curves!
Stephanie is standing on a temporary floor across the top of the staircase. This will be removed at some stage, but allows easy access to both halves of the house, before the corridor is built along the front edge.
