Ground works galore

With the dry weather, its been full steam ahead on the external work.
First of all, Jim and Michael discovered the missing sewer at last - right where the maps originally said it might be, but 2.5 m below ground level. It turns out that when Bear Hill was widened from a single track road, back in the 1950's, they simply buried the old road and the manhole covers under about a meter of soil. No wonder we couldn't find the manholes! You can see the original tarmac surface on the wall of this pit.
So now there is a connection into the existing sewer, and a trench to connect up to the pipes at the boundary of the house.

Meanwhile, the patio is being finished off, topsoil distributed,

and the pond is full. We are seeing nice reflections, and the light bounces off the water onto the pergola and oak beams.
