Pergola, pond and porch

Today, I noticed that the porch step has been built and the concrete floor poured.
And the curved and stepped front wall is nearing completion.
The oak posts for the pergola are in place, and Pete and Chris are fixing the softwood rafters.
And the pond has been dug out and has a concrete base; Ian will put a block-work perimeter around it next.

The only bad point in all this outside work was that the French drain laid last week silted up almost immediately, as last weekend's rain washed fine silt out of the surrounding clay. So the trench had to be re-opened, and a bigger pipe will be used, with the trench walls protected to avoid water ingress through the clay layer.

Inside, the tiling and plastering is moving ahead, second fix electrics is following close behind, and Ricky is mass-producing architraves, sanding and varnishing the oak strips.
