Photovoltaic panels

The solar (PV) panels were installed just before the scaffolding was taken down. They are at a sub-optimal angle - in the original plan we would have put them on the roof tilted slightly toward the south, rather than on the revised roof now tilted north. We could have put them on the lower roof, which is tilted south, but it would have been in the shadow of the rest of the building for much of the afternoon, and also too visible. A calculator (http://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvgis/apps4/pvest.php?lang=en&map=europe) shows we may have lost about 19% of output against the optimum angle (35 degrees to the horizon, 45 degrees to the roof, but only about 13.5% compared to the roof tilted south (if not in shadow). And they are at least firmly attached and unlikely to blow away, being flat!
