We were all set for a 10.00 a.m. start today, to fence off the site boundary etc. prior to the official start after Easter.
But at 8.00 a.m. a truck with a stack of fences arrived, quickly followed by Pete Olds with several of his team, a surveyor (with a satellite surveying tool accurate to within 25 mm, he claims - no more old-school surveying with a spirit level and a big wooden ruler!) and a big man with a big digger. This was all swiftly followed by the Health & Safety (CDM) manager to check out the facilities, literally.
Within hours, the drive was about 2 feet wider, the big brick pillar was gone, and our nice grassy field was beginning its rapid transformation into a muddy slope.
